1Players per team on the field
Standard on-field team sizes recur as pure recall: cricket, football and hockey with 11; volleyball 6; basketball 5; kabaddi 7; kho-kho 9; polo 4.
The useful cluster is the three elevens — cricket, football, hockey — then the odd-count sports kabaddi (7) and basketball (5). Do not invent 'substitutes on the sheet' counts; papers want the playing strength in the formulas.

A stem asks how many players a kabaddi side fields and someone answers 11 because cricket and hockey are 11. The correction is
- Kabaddi is 11; only basketball is 7
- Kabaddi is 7; cricket, football and hockey are the elevens

2Modern Olympics — 1896, four years, motto
The modern Olympic Games began in 1896 in Athens. They are held every four years. The Olympic motto is 'Citius, Altius, Fortius' — Faster, Higher, Stronger.
Lock the triad: start year and city, four-year cycle, motto with translation. A stem that moves the first Games to 1900 Paris is testing the 1896 Athens lock.

Someone says the modern Olympics began in Paris in 1900 and run every two years, with motto 'Faster, Stronger, Higher'. What is wrong?
- Nothing — Paris 1900 is the standard start year

Notes lock 1896 Athens, a four-year cycle, and Citius, Altius, Fortius — Faster, Higher, Stronger. Paris 1900 and a two-year cycle are distractors; the English order is Faster, Higher, Stronger.
3Terms that identify the sport
Vocabulary uniquely identifies the sport: love, deuce, ace and volley belong to tennis; birdie, eagle, par and bogey to golf; googly, yorker and LBW to cricket; checkmate, gambit, castling and stalemate to chess.
If a stem lists deuce, ace and volley, the sport is tennis — not badminton by proximity. Build the term-to-sport table; do not invent definitions beyond the sport lock.

The terms deuce, ace and volley appear together. Which sport is in view, and which distractor sport usually steals ace/volley?
- Golf — deuce is a golf scoring term
- Tennis — golf uses birdie/bogey; cricket uses yorker/googly; badminton is the usual wrong neighbour for ace/volley
- Cricket — deuce is a two-wicket term
Deuce, ace and volley are tennis terms in the notes. Golf and cricket have their own vocabularies; badminton is a common neighbour distractor for racket terms.
4Khel Ratna above Arjuna; Dronacharya for coaches
The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is India’s highest sporting honour. The Arjuna Award recognizes performance. The Dronacharya Award honours coaches. The Dhyan Chand Award marks lifetime achievement.
Khel Ratna is a step above Arjuna. Do not answer a 'highest sporting honour' stem with Arjuna, and do not give Dronacharya to an athlete’s performance citation.

- Arjuna Award — it outranks Khel Ratna for players

Khel Ratna (Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna) is the highest sporting honour. Arjuna recognizes performance; Dronacharya honours coaches.
529 August — National Sports Day
National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August to mark the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the hockey legend called 'The Wizard'. The same date chain supports the Khel Ratna renaming in his honour in exam notes.

6Mega events on a four-year cycle
Summer Olympics, FIFA World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games are each held once every four years in the formulas’ cycle sheet.
The teaching point is the shared four-year rhythm, not the next host city. Do not put a rotting 'next venue' into pegs — hosts change; the cycle fact is what the notes lock.

A claim says the FIFA World Cup is annual while the Olympics are every four years. The accurate sports-cycle sheet says

The formulas list each of those mega events as once every four years. An annual FIFA cycle is not the fact this topic locks.
7Trophies and top events — short sheet
Sport–trophy associations in the notes stay light: cricket has the Ranji Trophy (domestic first-class) and the ICC World Cup; football’s top event is the FIFA World Cup; hockey contests international trophies. Prefer these stable names over a year’s winner list.
Ranji is domestic first-class cricket — not the ICC World Cup under another name. FIFA World Cup is football’s peak event in this sheet.
